In 2016, a legal requirement was introduced for every dog in the UK to be microchipped. This (and a stream of lost pet stories on social media) put pet microchipping into the spotlight. With more than 500,000 new puppies born in the UK each year, this has created a demand for microchipping services.

From 2024, it became mandatory for all cats in England to be microchipped before they are 20 weeks old. Lost or stray pet cats are much more likely to be reunited with their owners and returned home safely if they are microchipped. Under the regulations, all keepers must ensure their cat is microchipped before they reach the age of 20 weeks, and their contact details stored, and kept up to date in a pet microchipping database. Owners found not to have microchipped their cat will have 21 days to have one implanted or may face a ?ne of up to £500.

Is Microchipping difficult to do?

This service is exceptionally easy and quick to carry out. You can have a dog microchipped in less than 10 minutes in most cases and charge up to £35 per pet. As you can see, based on these figures, the earning potential is huge.

The whole service is quick, simple and pain free for the animal.

It is like the process you may have experienced taking your pet to have a routine quick vaccination.

You only ever need a small carry case with your scanner, chips and other small items which we give to you on the training. You don’t need any special car or van; this can be carried out on foot or via any means of transport you have.

The service is usually carried out at the customer’s home, or you can have them bring their pet to you if preferred.

There are no monthly fees to pay for your first 3 months to allow you time to build up your business. The fee after the first 3 months is just £75 per month (plus VAT) for the licence.
