A new law was introduced in April 2016 making it a legal requirement that every dog in the UK is micro-chipped. This has seen a major surge in the demand for the services. From 2024 it will now ALSO become mandatory for all cats in the UK to be fully micro chipped.

Lost or stray pet cats are more likely to be reunited with their owners and returned home safely under new pet microchipping rules announced by the government today.

Under the new plans, all keepers must ensure their pet is microchipped before they reach the age of 20 weeks and their contact details stored and kept up to date in a pet microchipping database. Owners found not to have microchipped their cat will have 21 days to have one implanted or may face a fine of up to £500.

Is Microchipping difficult to do?

This service is exceptionally easy and quick to carry out. You can have a dog microchipped in less than 10 minutes in most cases and charge around £20-30 per pet. As you can see, based on these figures, the earning potential is huge.

The whole service is very quick, simple and completely pain free for the animal.

It is very similar to the process you may have experienced taking your pet to have a routine quick vaccination.

You only ever need a very small carry case with your scanner, chips and other small items which we give to you on training. You don’t need any special car or van; this can be carried out on foot or via any means of transport you have.

The service is usually carried out at the customer’s home, or you can have them bring their pet to you if preferred.

There are no monthly fees to pay for your first 3 months to allow you time to build up your business. The fee after the first 3 months is just £75 per month for the licence.
