An area manager at the UK’s largest pet supplies retailer has embarked on a new career after launching an oven valeting business serving Bicester and Banbury.

Michael Gambrill is now owner of Ovenu Bicester & Banbury, having enjoyed a successful, 20-year tenure at Pets at Home.

Michael, 40, from Souldern, progressed to store and area management positions at the national retailer, before joining Ovenu, a franchise network made up of more than 100 businesses owned by men and women working throughout the UK.

Michael had aspirations to one day be his own boss through self-employment and became interested in Ovenu having used the service at one of his rental properties.

He is now hoping to establish the franchise and expand it to become a multi-van operation in the future.

He said: “I’ve always wanted to be my own boss and having worked my way up the ladder at a large company I felt the time was right for a new challenge. I’ve used Ovenu before and as soon as the opportunity came about I decided to take the plunge into business without much hesitation.

“I have big plans for the business and hope to expand the franchise with the support of sub-contractors and additional vehicles on the road, once I am up and running. I am now looking forward to meeting with and forging relationships with customers, and very excited at the potential that this latest challenge will present.”

Ovenu Bicester & Banbury serves homes and businesses throughout both towns and all surrounding areas.

Rik Hellewell, Managing Director and Founder of Ovenu, said: “Michael possesses extensive customer service and management experience, which will stand him in good stead with his new venture. He has the right attitude, skills and drive to succeed and I’d like to wish Michael all the very best.”
