Alan Jarvis and his partner Charlotte are looking to put the sparkle in their new business after becoming the first franchisees of flourishing brand My Window Cleaner.

Alan and Charlotte have taken on the Canterbury franchise, with Alan leaving a 30-year career in retail to start a business to secure the future for the couple and their young family. They’ll begin building that future that when they open for business on Monday 6 August.

Alan said: “I’d always wanted to have my own business and always fancied working outdoors. I had to make a decision on whether to franchise or go out on my own, but after meeting with My Window Cleaner’s directors there was only one choice. I’ve got three young kids so it was important to find the right opportunity for me and my family.”

“I’ve never run my own business and with the franchise, I have a support network that’s robust, efficient and knows how to help us grow. I’ve spent quite a while working with the company’s best window cleaner, and also spent several days with the directors training locally. Karen, Dave and Ian [My Window Cleaner’s directors] have shown us a really strong statement of commitment and togetherness. It’s been really good. I can’t wait to get started.”

Despite only just getting underway, Alan’s ambition is clear to see.

“We see it as the start of a family business that will grow and develop in the future,” he says. “The potential is absolutely enormous, we offer a really good range of services and the systems are excellent. I’m not one to sit back and relax and the option to keep growing and take on staff was really important to me. It’s a very exciting time for us.”

Ian Bradley, My Window Cleaner franchise director, said: “This is a wonderful milestone for the company and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better to start our franchise journey with. Alan and Charlotte share our ethos of passion and pride in their work and have customer service in their blood.

“The response since we franchised the business has been very strong and we’re looking forward to helping more people go into business for themselves, backed by proven systems and experienced support.”

Karen Prewer, who founded My Window Cleaner in 1996 and is the company’s managing director, added: “I couldn’t be more thrilled. This is a fantastic day for the company and for Alan and Charlotte, it’s the beginning of a new chapter for us all. The windows of Canterbury are about to shine like never before!”
