{"id":16688,"date":"2022-11-09T17:00:11","date_gmt":"2022-11-09T17:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.franchiselocal.co.uk\/news\/?p=16688"},"modified":"2022-11-09T08:53:11","modified_gmt":"2022-11-09T08:53:11","slug":"elliott-of-ovenu-solihull-organises-collection-for-overwhelmed-foodbank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.franchiselocal.co.uk\/news\/elliott-of-ovenu-solihull-organises-collection-for-overwhelmed-foodbank\/","title":{"rendered":"Elliott of Ovenu Solihull organises collection for overwhelmed foodbank"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading Time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> &lt; 1<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minute<\/span><\/span><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Elliott Robinson of Ovenu Solihull has responded to a local foodbank\u2019s plea for help after reports it was in danger of closing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 44-year-old, who has run his franchised oven cleaning business for 16 years, collected several bags of foodstuffs from clients before delivering them to Community Essentials in Olton, Solihull.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has experienced a two-fold increase in demand for its emergency food parcels and was struggling to cope before a successful appeal for both donations of food and cash.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stephen Palmer, who helped found the voluntary organisation, said there had been a 100 percent increase in demand over the past month from individuals and families in crisis in the Solihull and South Birmingham areas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is currently distributing up to 125 emergency food parcels, containing a minimum three days\u2019 worth of meals, every week.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stephen said: \u201cWe are grateful to Elliott and the others who have come forward to show their support and I appeal to local people and businesses to help us to continue making a difference by donating foodstuffs or money to cover our running costs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe have seen a 100 percent increase in demand for our emergency food parcels over the past month \u2013 rising from around 60 to 125 per week, and I can only see that continuing to increase.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Elliott added: \u201cI\u2019ve been raising awareness about Community Essentials\u2019 great work among my clients and inviting them to make a food bank donation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019ve been delighted at the response and have collected a wide range of items from tinned tuna to breakfast cereals, cooking sauces, and packs of rice and pasta.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEveryone appreciates times are tough and that many find themselves in a tight spot through no fault of their own.
