Karl Langford is making the move from carpets to cookers after taking over Ovenu Guernsey from long-standing franchisee Chris Robilliard.<\/p>\n

Chris, who ran the oven cleaning service for more than two decades, is easing himself into a well-earned retirement by continuing to work with Karl over the next few months to ensure a smooth handover.<\/p>\n

Karl, 39, was born and raised on the island and brings plenty of experience to the role, having spent the past five years working for a local carpet cleaning company. Before that, he ran his own newspaper distribution business.<\/p>\n

The father-of-three from St Peter Port said: \u201cCleaning carpets was the perfect preparation for running this business. It\u2019s hands-on, rewarding, and gives you real job satisfaction. I also enjoy meeting people and getting out and about across the island, so it\u2019s a natural fit.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve huge respect for everything Chris has achieved in building up Ovenu Guernsey. Once he fully steps back, I\u2019m keen to grow the business by recruiting a couple of new oven technicians to meet rising demand and maintain the quality clients expect.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chris, also from St Peter Port, joined the Merchant Navy in his youth and travelled the world before returning home, and launching the franchised business in 2004. A keen cyclist, he\u2019s now looking forward to spending more time in the saddle.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on his 21-year journey, he said: \u201cIt\u2019s been a fantastic experience, and I\u2019ve met so many wonderful people. Karl has the right attitude and work ethic, and I\u2019m pleased to see him take over. I\u2019ll stick around a little while longer, but I\u2019m definitely looking forward to enjoying a slower pace of life!\u201d<\/p>\n
