{"id":30248,"date":"2026-04-28T14:50:40","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T13:50:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.franchiselocal.co.uk\/news\/?p=30248"},"modified":"2026-04-28T14:50:40","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T13:50:40","slug":"ovenu-franchisees-raise-almost-700-for-cancer-research-uk-at-agm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.franchiselocal.co.uk\/news\/ovenu-franchisees-raise-almost-700-for-cancer-research-uk-at-agm\/","title":{"rendered":"Ovenu franchisees raise almost \u00a3700 for Cancer Research UK at AGM"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading Time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> &lt; 1<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minute<\/span><\/span><p>Franchisees from oven cleaning specialist Ovenu have raised \u00a3694 for Cancer Research UK at the company\u2019s annual general meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The charity was chosen after a franchisee was forced to retire following a diagnosis of prostate cancer, prompting colleagues to rally behind the cause.<\/p>\n<p>Held near Redditch, the AGM also gave franchisees an opportunity to strengthen relationships, share best practice and align on the company\u2019s continued growth.<\/p>\n<p>Founder and managing director Rik Hellewell highlighted 2025 as a record year for recruitment, with 16 new franchisees and four subcontractors joining the network, followed by a further four franchisees already in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>He said: <em>\u201cOvenu\u2019s position as a market leader is built on delivering a premium service and achieving consistently excellent results for our clients. As we expand, it\u2019s vital we not only maintain those standards, but continue to raise the bar.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Fundraising activities began during the AGM dinner, when a race night raised \u00a3229. A darts competition followed, before the professional dartboard set, including surround, stand and oche, was raffled off, raising a further \u00a3465.<\/p>\n<p>The winning bid came from Lee Gibson of Ovenu Stoke North, who said: <em>\u201cI was shocked to win, especially as I\u2019d brought my wife\u2019s car instead of my van and wasn\u2019t sure it would all fit in!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to getting it home and improving my game &#8211; although given that Stoke is the home of darts legend Phil Taylor, I\u2019ve got a fair amount or practice to put in to get anywhere near his level!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Rik added: <em>\u201cIt was fantastic to see everyone come together for such an important cause. The generosity shown reflects the strong spirit within Ovenu, and we\u2019re proud to support Cancer Research UK and the vital work they do.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, Liam Patton of Ovenu\u2019s digital marketing agency Mayfly won Ovenu\u2019s annual golf competition, while Keith Woolfrey of Ovenu Amersham took the closest-to-the-pin prize.
