{"id":5088,"date":"2020-03-27T09:15:08","date_gmt":"2020-03-27T09:15:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.franchiselocal.co.uk\/news\/?p=5088"},"modified":"2020-04-30T09:16:29","modified_gmt":"2020-04-30T08:16:29","slug":"mr-simms-olde-sweet-shoppe-donates-easter-stock-to-food-bank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.franchiselocal.co.uk\/news\/mr-simms-olde-sweet-shoppe-donates-easter-stock-to-food-bank\/","title":{"rendered":"Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe donates Easter stock to food bank"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading Time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> &lt; 1<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minute<\/span><\/span><h2>A Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe franchisee has helped a food bank that closed because of the COVID-19 crisis.<\/h2>\n<p>Julia Chard, who owns the Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe in Knutsford, Cheshire, is donating her Easter stock to Knutsford food bank after closing up shop.<\/p>\n<p>Chard said:<em><strong>\u00a0\u201cOn Saturday I had strict social distancing in the shop, with only one family allowed at a time in the shop, a line in front of the counter, asking people not to pick up an item unless buying and sanitising and handwashing all day.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cI served more than 160 customers during the day, which was a huge number when people are meant to be staying at home.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>She commented on why she decided to shut the doors: \u201cThis is what made my mind up to close, as I have a duty of care to my customers, my staff and my family.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cI would like to thank my customers for their continued support, and am donating all my chocolate bunnies to the Hope Central food bank.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Chard also recommended that Pizza Express donated their fresh fruit and veg to Hope Central after it also closed because of the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&#8220;My lovely neighbour Dave at Pizza Express came in to see if I knew of anyone who may need their perishable goods as the restaurant had closed, and I put them in touch with @WeAreKnutsford.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe franchisee has helped a food bank that closed because of the COVID-19 crisis.
