A sporting enthusiast from Sidcup has propelled his family business to new heights by partnering with Pacifica Local, responding to a growing trend of repairing rather than replace domestic appliances.
David Barwick, who began his career working for his father at Swift Electrical 12 years ago, is partnering with Pacifica, the UK’s largest white goods repair business, through its Pacifica Local model. This enables Swift Electrical, which was founded almost four decades ago, to access Pacifica’s extensive client network and industry-leading technology platform, which connects customers with skilled engineers – and will further extend its reach and impact across South East London.
The partnership comes at a crucial time when demand for domestic repair experts is on the rise. Recent UK legislation, introduced in March 2021, mandates manufacturers to ensure repair information and spare parts are available for up to 10 years for certain white goods and televisions. This legal framework, combined with soaring appliance costs, has significantly boosted the repair industry.
David, who enjoys playing golf and football, said: “The cost-of-living crisis and increasing environmental awareness are driving more people to repair rather than replace their domestic appliances.
