“Behind every great woman … is another great woman.” ― Kate Hodges

There are incredible upsides to being a Cleanhome franchise owner from flexible working hours and being your own boss to joining a dynamic and supportive team of likeminded people striving to strike a work life balance whilst reaping the rewards of their hard work.

Franchising facts in 2024: 99.5% of franchises succeed while 50% of independent start-ups fail.

The British Franchise Journal, published by the BFA featuring the first franchise survey since 2018, provides powerful evidence that franchising is one of the safest ways to own your own business in 2024.

According to FranchiseDirect.co.uk, 30% of all franchisees in the UK are women. Franchising provides flexibility for working women, especially women who have young children.

In view of this, Cleanhome are extremely excited to announce that they are teaming up with Encouraging Women into Franchising (EWiF), a charity run purely by volunteers, who are dedicated to educating, inspiring and empowering women to start their own franchise businesses.

Cleanhome was founded by Karen Kelly and her story is an inspiration to anyone who wants to set out on their own, however what separates Karen from many other entrepreneurs is that as soon as she realised that she had a great business model she was passionate about sharing her experiences and expertise with others. She developed training and support systems to enable those ready to take the leap to do so with the minimum risk.

Philippa James of Cleanhome West Kent was so inspired by her positive experience as a Cleanhome franchisee that she aimed to encourage other women to explore franchising opportunities.

Philippa shares, “Unsure of where to begin, I discovered the EWiF Ambassador program. Excited by its potential, I introduced the idea to Karen, who immediately saw its value and showed full support of the initiative.”

Karen comments, “Philippa’s dedication to supporting women in business is truly inspiring. She’s the perfect person to champion this program and help lead it forward.

EWiF brings together hundreds of franchisees and franchise operations experts like Philippa and Karen who offer a wealth of advice, guidance and mentoring designed to demystify the franchising process. It provides an incredible platform to explore franchising, fostering inclusivity, diversity and success within the franchising industry.

The EWiF ambassadors provide real life insights into being a franchisee, sharing their experiences in response to your questions over a free 30 minute meeting. Supporting women who’d like to take the step into franchising.

Central to Cleanhome, and EWiF’s, ethos is to enable others to succeed, empowering everyone to live their best lives:

  • Franchisees benefit from quickly realising profits of £70k or more within three years as well as achieving a better work life balance.
  • Customers benefit from a reliable and professional cleaning service enabling them to enjoy a better work life balance.
  • Cleaners benefit from Cleanhome sourcing regular customers, and the flexibility to set their own working hours, thereby creating a good work life balance. Very few jobs provide the flexibility to work school hours.
