Driver Hire, the UK’s leading transport & logistics franchisor, is welcoming four new franchisees who’ve invested in two attractive resale opportunities in the Midlands.

Husband and wife team, Mandeep and Sal Bassi, are the new owners of Driver Hire Leicester. They purchased the business from Paul and Shirley McKenna, who’ve now retired having enjoyed 20 successful years in the Driver Hire network.

Before opting to buy their Driver Hire franchise, Mandeep was a solicitor and Sal worked in accountancy. Sal’s no stranger to self employment; before moving into accountancy, Sal worked in her parents’ family business.

”A Driver Hire franchise attracted us because it’s a strong brand with an excellent reputation,” says Mandeep. “Another key factor in our decision is that there is support from the franchisor but sufficient leeway to enable us to put our own stamp on the business.”

Meanwhile, at Driver Hire Coventry, the new owners are business partners, Jane Moses and Richard Bannister. Both Jane and Richard have run their own businesses in the past. Jane’s was in retail, but more recently she’s worked in sales, marketing and recruitment. Richard’s background is in catering. He owned and operated a chain of local sandwich shops in the Birmingham/Solihull area. He also branched out into catering for corporate events.

“We researched a number of franchise opportunities and Driver Hire came out on top. That gives us a great platform for future success,” says Jane.

Welcoming them to Driver Hire’s franchise network, Franchise Sales Director, Graham Duckworth, said: “The Driver Hire success story continues with strong demand for franchise re-sales whenever they become available. Mandeep, Sal, Jane and Richard all carried out careful research before deciding to buy. They recognised that our franchises offer great value. Average annual turnover at a Driver Hire franchise is now in excess of £1m; that compares to a franchise industry average of £378k. We wish all our new franchisees well and look forward to helping them develop highly successful businesses.”
