A North Tyneside professional domestic housekeeping franchise business, Bright & Beautiful, has won the prestigious ‘New Business of the Year’ award at the North Tyneside Business Awards 2018.

Celebrating the win at last week’s annual awards, Helen Ross, business owner of Bright & Beautiful North Tyneside, set up her franchise business in October 2017 and now has a trusted team of eight professional housekeepers. Recognised for being an ethical employer and treating her staff with upmost respect, Helen has demonstrated how she has built and grown her own local business in just over 12 months and overcome any challenges that have arisen during this time.

Carole White, Chief Executive of TEDCO and sponsor of the New Business of the Year category, said: “Helen is building a strong business with clear plans for growth and a sound ethical purpose. We are delighted to have supported her through the start-up phase and look forward to helping the business to grow, she has a lot to be proud of.”

Delighted to win this award, Helen Ross added, “I was overwhelmed to win ‘New Business of the Year’ and I am hugely proud of being able to contribute to the local economy by only employing local staff who are providing a local service to our many customers’ in North Tyneside. To be selected means so much to me, both personally and professionally, and I am really pleased to have received acknowledgement for our ethical employer credentials, which in the cleaning industry is notorious for treating its staff poorly.

“I hope this award will raise awareness of our service and what we stand for as a business, and hopefully encourage people to value the service and hard work that is done by professional housekeepers, such as ourselves. I could not have done this without the continued support of my family, our fantastic team of housekeepers and our loyal customers’, so a big thank you to all of them. I’m really excited about what the future holds for us.”

David Bavaird, Chair North Tyneside Business Forum, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Bright & Beautiful North Tyneside and reflects the hard work and commitment both Helen Ross and her team has put them into growing the business, whilst supporting and contributing to the local community. The quality and quantity of the nominations this year was very high and it was a very difficult decision for the judging panel. We wish them every success in the future and look forward to watching them grow.”
