Heritage Healthcare’s Wakefield franchise office has been named finalists for the New Business of the Year award at the Wakefield Business Awards 2018.

The prestigious awards ceremony, hosted by newspaper The Wakefield Express, celebrates locally based businesses, recognising their growth, achievements and the individuals behind each organisation. The team at Heritage Healthcare Wakefield were shortlisted for the New Business of the Year Award for the successes they have achieved within the first year of business.

“It’s fantastic that our efforts and dedication to caring for people in the Wakefield district has been recognised” said Heritage Healthcare Franchisee Marie Binks, following her attendance of the award ceremony on Thursday 21st June. “The team really do make a positive difference to people’s lives. It is an honour to be a finalist of the Wakefield Business awards and congratulations to all the winners.”

Heritage Healthcare Wakefield first opened the doors to the care office in August 2017, providing home care and support services to individuals living locally to help them remain independent within their own home. The care company prioritises support for those who are elderly, convalescing or disabled to maintain the highest quality of life possible.

Operated by Managing Director Marie Binks with Registered Care Manager Magenta Jordan, the care team at Heritage Healthcare Wakefield are highly trained to deliver bespoke care packages. Working alongside loved ones and external healthcare professionals, the team creates a unique plan to suit the needs and wishes of each client.

Since their launch, the Wakefield care office has established a positive reputation within the community, creating connections with fellow businesses and local people. In 2017, Marie and Magenta took part in the Wakefield Works initiative, attending the Wakefield and Castleford Job Centres to provide advice, guidance and an insight into the care sector. This participation successfully lead to 2 staff members joining the care team.

To launch their support for Dementia care services, Heritage Healthcare Wakefield hosted a bake sale for the local community with home-made cupcakes and sweet treats in aid of supporting the Alzheimer’s Society. Marie and the Wakefield care team also signed up as Dignity Champions, taking part in extra training to understand how they can provide dignity in every care package and discuss how they will adapt the Dignity in Care campaign’s charter into their daily work-life.

During Heritage Healthcare’s Annual Conference and Award Ceremony in November 2017, Marie was named ‘New Franchisee of the Year’. Heritage Healthcare’s chief executive, Glenn Pickersgill, presented the award ceremony, highlighting the successes of the Wakefield branch; “Marie works closely with her Registered Care Manager Magenta and together they have built a fantastic reputation within their local community, regularly finding themselves with a waiting list of clients.”
