The venue

Karen’s Diners are theatrically decorated to recreate the look and feel of a 1960’s American Diner. 

The ideal premises would be a restaurant with a fitted open kitchen with an open restaurant space free from any visual obstructions.

The open kitchen and the restaurant ought to be on the same level. The venue should be between 1,500 - 3,000 sq ft / 60 - 120 seats. An alcoholic licence is necessary and a fitted bar needs to be in the restaurant area.

The Concept

“Great Food and Rude Service”. Karen’s is a restaurant “With a theatre on top!”

The front of house staff are all theatrically trained to be rude to the customers. They must all also be efficient waiters and servers. The kitchen must be able to produce excellent quality burgers and replicate the standard Karen’s menu. 

How much will it cost to open a Karen's Diner franchise?

The Franchisee will pay a Franchise Commission of 7.5% on all sales within the venue inclusive of VAT.

On signing the letter of intent to take up the Franchise a pre payment against future commission payable of £15,000 (plus VAT) will be made. For the sake of clarity, should the first two months sales be £100,000 each (including VAT) there would be no payment of commission by the Franchisee. (£200,000 x 7.5% = £15,000 already prepaid.

The costs of training the staff and assisting with the setting up of the diner is an additional fee of £4,500 payable 4 weeks prior to the venue’s opening.

What you will receive from us

Allow the Franchisee to have use of the Trade Mark along with the use of the distinctive and unique entertainment experience.

Select, audition and theatrically train the staff. 

There are three levels of Front of House staff:

A) Runners and Waiters 

B) Entertainers 

C) Floor Managers 

We will provide the software required to operate all of the management systems to include; 

• Health & Safety Management
• Food and Hygiene Management
• Food assembly and costings
• Staff management and shift allocation levels
• Allergy management
• Stock control
• Table booking management 
• Advise on the internal decoration

Expect that the Franchisee, or a person appointed by the Franchisee will have the knowledge and experience to manage a restaurant.

What does it take to be a Karen's Diner franchisee?

You'll need a passion for delivering exceptional (and exceptionally rude!) customer service, a strong understanding of restaurant operations, and the ability to manage a team of talented (and sassy) individuals.

Ensure the Back of House operates efficiently providing customers with good quality well presented food within an agreed time frame.

Manage the venue to a high professional standard.

Maintain and continuously update all of the management systems. Ensure that the brand is protected.

Open food and drink supplier’s accounts as directed by the Franchisor albeit on the understanding that the supplier is offering products at competitive prices.

Agree to a monthly consultancy charge of £750.00 to cover expert support and advice on systems efficiencies and profitability.
