A Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe franchisee has helped a food bank that closed because of the COVID-19 crisis.
Julia Chard, who owns the Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe in Knutsford, Cheshire, is donating her Easter stock to Knutsford food bank after closing up shop.
Chard said: “On Saturday I had strict social distancing in the shop, with only one family allowed at a time in the shop, a line in front of the counter, asking people not to pick up an item unless buying and sanitising and handwashing all day.
“I served more than 160 customers during the day, which was a huge number when people are meant to be staying at home.”
She commented on why she decided to shut the doors: “This is what made my mind up to close, as I have a duty of care to my customers, my staff and my family.
“I would like to thank my customers for their continued support, and am donating all my chocolate bunnies to the Hope Central food bank.”
Chard also recommended that Pizza Express donated their fresh fruit and veg to Hope Central after it also closed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“My lovely neighbour Dave at Pizza Express came in to see if I knew of anyone who may need their perishable goods as the restaurant had closed, and I put them in touch with @WeAreKnutsford.”
