What an end to a first year!

When a new business ends its first trading year on such a high, you know that year two is going to be even better!

A year ago, Alan and Charlotte launched our first pilot franchise in Canterbury. Expectations were high and a business model was set, along with a comprehensive marketing plan, that would provide them with the income they required as a family, as well as laying the foundations for growing a multi-van business.

The first year results did not disappoint. In fact, those high expectations were exceeded: their last week of trading in Year 1 saw them reach an all-time revenue high, taking more than £2,000 in the week. Yes, in a week!

Their business continues to grow at a pace that will see a second van introduced soon. They already have a new team member, Nathan, to help them cope with the demand and future growth.

Alan said: “This has been an amazing year. We have had the ups and we have had the downs, including the van breaking down, but we wouldn’t have got through the year without the support and guidance from the team at My Window Cleaner. It’s not all down to Team Canterbury; it’s Team My Window Cleaner, and of course not forgetting the support that the customer services team have given.”

He went on to say: “So, thank you and we will raise a glass of champagne to the team, and here’s to a successful Year 2!”

Karen Prewer, founder and MD of My Window Cleaner was equally delighted with the first year results.

Karen said: “Our business was established 23 years ago and the core business today has over 5,000 regular customers. We have worked equally hard to put the systems and processes in place for our franchise partners to use and benefit from. These results prove our model, brand and customer reputation and we are pushing forwards with helping new franchise owners join the network and benefit from our experience & expertise.”

Alan and Charlotte’s first year highlights include:

  • Exceeded business plan turnover by 7.7%
  • Average customer spend was 49.9% above plan
  • Customer wins matched the business plan
  • Customer retention high of 93%
  • Frequency of cleans matched plan
  • Great spread of customer wins via varied proven marketing methods
  • Each new customer only costing £8.21 to gain

My Window Cleaner’s Franchise Director, Ian Bradley, commented: “Results like this don’t come easy. Alan and Charlotte have been focused & dedicated to starting and growing their business and are now reaping the rewards. Our bespoke IT system demonstrates the scalability of the business opportunity, to become true business owners and grow from a one-person operation to more of a management style format.”

Ian added: “Our other franchise partners are also proving the model, regardless of geography & competition. I am now looking to grow the network further, ensuring that we grant territories to the right quality of person and assist them in growing a great business.”

The My Window Cleaner IT system provides for a full accounting package (so the franchise owner does not have to do their accounts), diary planning, marketing campaigns to existing customers, communications tool & mobile phone APP, which provides real time data.

Dave Prewer, Director, said: “Our IT system allows franchise partners to concentrate on two things; providing a great service and business growth. The automation of the system frees up the time to allow for this, as well as producing the management reports & data, to see historic results and to plan for future growth.”

So, we end the first pilot franchise year on a high and we look forward to constantly improving our systems and processes, so that other franchise partners can benefit from a great turnkey package & ongoing support.

Onwards and upwards…
