Why franchising offers a low-risk path to stability and success

Amid predictions of economic uncertainty, it’s natural to feel apprehensive about taking the next step, whether that’s starting a business, investing, or changing careers.

Yet, challenging times create unique opportunities and having guided Ovenu through two recessions and a global pandemic, I’ve seen how franchising can be a really smart choice.

As outlined in the government’s Autumn Budget, employer National Insurance contributions (NIC) will rise to 15% from April, while the threshold for payments per employee will fall significantly.

He previously worked creating sweet treats for high street names including Starbucks, Pret a Manger, Waitrose, and Costa but a spell in hospital with Covid 19 prompted him to reassess his career and work-life balance.

Despite taking on a new territory, his devotion to customer service has seen him build a client base of more than 1,800. He tells me that since launching the business he has not looked back and 80% of his work is repeat custom. As a result, he’s preparing to take on a technician to support him in meeting the ever-increasing demand for his services.

Rob’s experience is supported by a recent British Franchise Association survey which revealed a 99.5% success rate for franchisees, far outperforming the 50% failure rate of independent start-ups.
