As a reputable sports franchise in the Elite top 100 franchises, with our target market being primary school aged children, we at SportsCool believe that having a consistent role in our communities is a crucial part of our brand success. At the core of our mission is a deep commitment to CSR and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
We focus heavily on social well-being and community impact in the services we provide and are proud to be certified providers of the HAF program, working across multiple local authorities across the UK to deliver vital coaching, enrichment activities, and health programs to some of the most deprived children in our communities.
We pride ourselves on always putting the children first, since setting up the company in 2008 and know that as long as this is in place that the business will follow.
Below are some examples of recent projects we have set up to engage with our communities across the franchise network and what kind of impact we are having on communities as a successful franchise business.
2024/25 Lancashire HQ – We agreed to run a project called “Tint Owt To Do” (which is based on a common expression amongst youngsters in Lancashire) providing opportunities for children to get involved in social sport, art and construction activities. Open to young people aged 11-18 and fully inclusive of SEND people up to the age of 25. This project is in conjunction with Sport England and an opportunity for us to make a big difference to local communities within Lancashire, especially in more deprived areas, supporting the families that need it the most.
This project will hopefully be a lifeline for disengaged youth in the area and reduce the number of children drawn into antisocial behaviour. We are confident it will improve emotional wellbeing through social connection with peer’s encouragement from staff and help them to develop life skills in the areas of communication; teamwork and empathy for others. We want this service to act as a safe space for youths; facilitated by fun and dynamic professional adults; who are approachable and become a trusted sounding board to discuss any issues.
Whilst this is something we are currently trialling in our HQ area, we plan to install it across the franchise network once it has been fine-tuned.
By putting together programmes like this we are not only helping the children in the communities we reach but showcasing the ethos and values of the brand we have created. Giving SportsCool the credibility required to show a school why working with us is a far better choice than with any competitor.
2024/25 East London Franchisee Amjad has introduced a programme working closely with SEND children and creating specialised classes for those who are non-verbal and require intimate care, making sure we have the right procedures and policies in place to adhere to across the network for any other territories who want to run the same focused classes.
Across the Entire Network – We are trusted providers of HAF (Holiday Activity and Food Scheme). HAF provides not only physical and mental stimulation but essential nutritional support for children. The scheme has had such a positive impact in deprived areas, delivering sports and activities out of term time. For many of the children it is the only healthy meal they will receive during the holidays and the only opportunity to engage in structured, enriching activities. This initiative directly contributes to reducing food insecurity, improving health outcomes, and supporting the overall well-being of these children, while fostering a sense of belonging and engagement within the community.
For our franchisees this means a connection, not only with families in their community but with local authority decision makers who have the ability to credit or discredit a company when they do their regular assessments of delivery. This can have a major baring and impact on how schools view providers and why we are proud to be a trusted provider of this scheme.
Further impact we have made in the last 6/12 months:
- New ways to support families in need by uncovering access to a pot of funding that will help support families to engage with our holiday clubs who wouldn’t necessarily have previously qualified, for example families dealing with bereavement and financial difficulties that come from losing a parent. Our aim is to reach the most difficult 10% of children by breaking barriers of social isolation.
- Creating positive relationships within the community for children in our communities with the Fire Dept, Police, Nurses and Ambulance Services who attend HAF Clubs, we ensure children have positive experiences/relationships with them and view them as safe and trustworthy people they can turn to.
- Engaging in other community projects with Asylum seekers, non-verbal children, and those who do not speak English. We employ qualified staff to communicate and help them feel safer and more included across the franchise network.
