Ending on a high, fit20 a year in review

UK fit20 studios are seeing unprecedented growth in studio membership, which is up nearly 50% on pre-lockdown highs.

While traditional gyms have struggled to entice members back since lockdowns eased, fit20 has bucked the trend. This will be down to a combination of reasons, not least because we are naturally socially distanced and hygienic, but also because we have a great team of Franchise Owners. We work to ensure that they have the support, assets, systems and technology to really thrive. Their customers love them and return week after week.

Today, fit20 has over 19,000 members across 12 countries. Our franchise model is set up so that new locations can break even in six to nine months. Our highly profitable business model works by combining human interaction with cutting-edge technology in boutique style studios. High intensity training is the fastest-growing segment within the fitness industry today.

It is no surprise that we have been lucky to receive a number of Awards Nominations this year and that our CEO, Walter Vendel, was selected as Top Influential European Franchise Figure by Seeds Consulting.

We were also thrilled to be featured in the Best Startup UK Magazine as one of the best Sheffield based Health Care startups and companies to work for. We were selected due to exceptional performance in the categories of innovation, growth, management, and societal impact

Niri Patel, Managing Director of fit20 UK said: “Our science based training transforms the lives of our customers and it is wonderful for us as an innovative and caring brand, to receive this recognition. I’m proud of what we do, as are our incredible team of franchised studio owners and certified personal trainers!”

We believe the accolades are well deserved. This last year, following a trial in over 100 of our studios in Holland, we introduced our unique sensor technology into the fit20 UK studios. This innovative technology helps members to concentrate on the tempo of their training whilst their personal trainer ensures that their form is as good as it can be. Sensor technology enables fit20 members to consistently improve the quality of their training, working towards an optimal technique and therefore gaining the maximum benefits from their fit20 training.

Perhaps some of our biggest news came right at the start of the year, on 27 January 2021, when the pre-print of what is now known as the fit20 study* was published. This groundbreaking study, the largest ever done in movement science. was unequivocally positive about the effects of fit20 training on strength, health, and wellbeing. fit20 is now scientifically proven to have an incredible effect on improving strength and providing massive health benefits as a result.

Certainly, when we entered the second year of the Covid 19 Pandemic, we could have never envisaged such a successful year. We now look forward to 2022 which will see the opening of our first fit20 studio in Scotland; Edinburgh West is due to open its doors at the start of the year!

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy, prosperous and healthy 2022,

From the fit20 UK Team.
