Leverage Your Talent and Resources

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Do you ever ask yourself, “Am I making the most of myself?”. It’s a kind of weird question but it does have a certain resonance if your life is not running quite as you would like. Perhaps you have been in the fitness industry for a while and feel your career has stalled, or your talents are not being used to the full, OR your talents are being used to the full but without the requisite compensation! In this article we want to cover how and why you should have a careful look at where you are and, if you need a change, what that change could be.

Self-Analysis

For example, if you are a Personal Trainer or a Group Exercise instructor have a good think about what it is that you most enjoy about your job in general. This could be the buzz of getting people fitter, it could be the colleagues that surround you etc. Then do the opposite and think about what you dislike or makes you feel anxious about your job. Write these down, be honest as you don’t have to show it to anyone and can rip it up! Anyone in any job can do this.

A good exercise to do after the general thoughts is a personal SWOT. This stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats and this gets into more detail about you. It is usually done in a grid like this:

SWOT 2

Finish this self-analysis with a bit of day dreaming!  It can be helpful to try and visualise what you actually want from your career and personal life and then write this down.  By the end of this you should have really thought about you and your talents and where you want to go.

What Next?

If you look carefully at your Opportunity square on the SWOT grid, this is where you look at leveraging your strengths and resources.  Leveraging just means to use (something) to maximum advantage.  The opposite is how do you cover or build up your weaknesses.

You should consider starting a business that makes the most of your Strengths, allows you to maximise your Opportunities and helps you with your perceived Weaknesses.

Our business model is recurring revenue from memberships but using outdoor bootcamps and online coaching. By combining outdoor bootcamps with online nutrition and Myzone effort tracking and personalised tracking, this offers more flexible route to better results.  Members don’t have to hit the gym every day, they get a lot of motivation and guidance via the RISE app to be more active through the week.  Then a twice weekly face to face bootcamp gives them the human contact that makes the community come alive.

If you think about yourself as a member of the RISE Fitness franchise network, what we help you do is guide and support, motivate and push you towards results. We can help with your perceived weaknesses by giving support and guidance throughout your time with us.  The franchise team will help you develop those soft spots and eventually turn them into strengths. Ultimately we only get better if you do and that is the win/win situation rather than starting of on your own with little or no support.

This business model can leverage your talents and, if you are a PT or GroupEx instructor with a following or database of customers RISE can leverage that too. Instead of pay as you go and worrying if people will renew a block or what they are doing when they are not with you. This model allows you to stay in touch through the week, help people stay active and using the personalised monthly coaching calls you develop a deep understanding of their needs and wants. That turns people into long term customers.

So, now you will keep the bits you enjoy, get good compensation, improve your professional standing and gain some control over your life.  Here at RISE Fitness, we believe in controlling your destiny and getting your just rewards for working hard.  So come and talk to us, register your interest here.
