Petpals’ Franchise Support Manager to run London Marathon in support of Cats Protection

At Petpals, the team at head office and franchisees throughout the network are rallying behind Franchise Support Manager Tracey Dawber as she tackles this year’s London Marathon. Tracey’s participation in the marathon is not only a personal challenge but also a heartfelt initiative in support of Cats Protection – a cause close to the heart of the Petpals brand.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be lacing up my running shoes to support such a worthy cause,” said Tracey. “If you’re wondering where you can find me, I’ll be running around my local country lanes in Andover – supported by my husband and daughter, who will be cycling and rollerblading alongside me, cheering me on as I gear up for the big day. It’s been tough, but knowing I have my family and the entire Petpals network behind me makes me focused on pushing closer to my goal and the chance to make a meaningful difference to Cats Protection.”

Cats Protection not only rehomes abandoned cats but also advocates for cats by campaigning for change across the UK. It offers education in the form of free talks, lesson plans, information packs and interactive activities. Recently, it launched a free and confidential fostering service for cats whose families are fleeing domestic abuse so they can rest assured their cat will be taken care of until they can be safely reunited.

This is not the first time Tracey has pushed herself to her limits for a good cause. In 2023, she participated in the London Marathon for the first time and raised £2,000 for Dogs Trust. This year, she hopes to achieve a similar feat for Cats Protection and has already managed to raise more than 70 per cent of her target.

“When I announced I was taking part again this year, everyone thought I was mad!” explained Tracey. “But the tireless commitment to the welfare of our feline friends at Cats Protection resonated with me and the Petpals team so much that I knew I had to take part again. They often get overlooked in favour of more socially popular charities, so they especially need our help. I’m so grateful for all the support and donations I’ve received, and I’m determined to make everyone proud – including our much-loved feline companions!”

Tracey’s participation in the London Marathon is just one example of the many initiatives undertaken by members of the Petpals network to ensure they uphold the brand’s commitment to pet care and welfare.

“At Petpals, we see first-hand the incredible bond between pets and their owners,” says Kevin Thackrah, Director of Petpals. “It’s a relationship built on love, trust and loyalty – something that we’re passionate about preserving through our pet-preferred pet care services. That’s why so many in our network go out of their way to support initiatives that align with these values.

“Tracey’s passion for pets and commitment to their wellbeing are true reflections of what our brand stands for. We believe that pets deserve the best possible care, and Tracey’s participation in yet another London Marathon is a testament to that commitment. Good luck, Tracey!”
